Sr. Clara’s Juniorate’s report

Sing aloud, O daughter of Zion; shout, O Israel! Rejoice and exult with all your heart, O daughter Jerusalem! The Lord, your God, is in your midst, a warrior who gives victory; he will rejoice over you with gladness, he will renew you in his love; he will exult over you with loud singing. Zephaniah 3:14.17 My first year as a sister of the Congregation of “Notre Dame de Sion” has been unique and meaningful. I have experienced some fantastic realities which have taught me to love God and my Congregation more.

Sr. Victoria’s Juniorate’s report

“I was glad when they said let us go to the house of God” Ps. 122:1 “Do not try to please everybody. Try to please God, the angels and saints they are your public,” said St. John Vianney. I would like to thank God for this opportunity of being here in Jerusalem with a big community again after my novitiate. I am a Sister of Sion, part of the community in Ecce Homo. I am able to take any responsibilities in the community and are ready for that. I had experience in this community before my novitiate for 5 months in 2013.

Sr. Alejandra’s Juniorate’s report

This is a very brief account from numbers of points of view. I am Sister Alejandra from Guatemala. I made my Novitiate in Jerusalem and after my first vows I came back to Central America. Currently, I live in Nicaragua with Sr. Ana Maria who has been serving the Poor in Nicaragua for more than twentyfive years. Now I have been in the Barrio, “El Recreo” for more than one year. I share the ministry of our Sisters of Sion in “Generando Vida” who have been there since 1990. Our new mission at the time was to live there and to be good neighbors while at the same time teaching at the Jesuit University, LA UCA. Originally, this Congregation of nuns arrived in the Barrio “El Recreo” and realized that the people, mostly children, suffered from malnutrition. The sisters and volunteers began with the problem of malnutrition among those children. Little by little with an increase in numbers they created a comedor a Soup kitchen.

January 20th – 175th Anniversary

In the context of the 175th anniversary of the Event of January 20th, our Jerusalem Sion Family had the honor and the happiness of celebrating Father Mary’s birthday, his last days and the remembrance of his death. During the week, Brother Elio Passeto NDS gave us some material and talks on Mary Alphonse for us to pray with and to reflect on. Alphonse Charles Tobias Ratisbonne was born in Strasbourg on May 1st, 1814. He was the second youngest member of his family. His mother, Adelaide died when he was four years old and since then he was brought up by his father, uncle, brothers and sisters. There is a description by Sr. Carmelle in her book, “Alphonse Ratisbonne from Rome to Jerusalem”, that expresses very well Alphonse’s personality: “playful and sensitive, he won the hearts of all by his spontaneity spiced by charm and intrigue of the unexpected” (p.7). Our dear Father Mary was a person full of energy, passion and love. As the quote says, he won the hearts of all including the …
