Sion in the Philippines

“Blessed are the poor” (Luke:6:20)

“If you have come here to help us, then we do not want your presence. But if you have come becuase your liberation is bound up with mine, then let us work together” (Aboriginal woman)

These two texts frame our vision statement as Sion communities, Philippines. We believe that liberation is wholistic and that God has a special love and concern for the poor. We are called to create structures that embody this concern in all that we do and are. Judaism reveals a God on the side of the weak. whereas evolution is a process of selection which favours the fittest and strongest. The Word of God, speaking through the Jewish and Christian Traditions encourages and inspires us in our attempts to “act justly, love tenderly and walk humbly with our God” (Micha:6:6)

As an international community we believe that our differences are a source of learning, blessing and growth; our daily life calls us to be women of dialoigue. We also recognize that we fall short of our vision and are called to be reconciled to each other and the Living God.
