Our February First week news

Mission in the Synoptic Gospels

This week we finished our classes with Sr. Ivete about mission in the synoptic gospels – the mission that can only be based on the living Word and witness of the Scriptures. As we shared our personal reflections and insights, we felt that Jesus left a great responsibility to us, His Church to go into the world to proclaim the Good News of God’s love to all people.

“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptize them in the name of the Father and of the son and of the Holy Spirit, and teach them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” (Matthew 28:19-20).

The Synoptic Gospels tell us that God so loved the world that He sent His only son Jesus Christ. It is the UNIVERSAL message for our mission as Church. As Jesus who was sent by God, now it is extended to us to go and to be God’s witness into the entire world.

Now, we the Novices can take and continue to reflect on this message to mark the beginning of our second year of our Novitiate – our apostolic year. We thank Sr. Ivete for her generosity in sharing with us her knowledge and time so that we too may love and study more about the Scriptures.

Sr. Maureen Fritz and Sr. Rosé Theresa celebrate their anniversary of religious life

On February 2nd, the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord, Sr. Maureena Fritz and Sr. Rosé Theresa celebrated the anniversary of their commitment in religious life – Sr. Maureena celebrating 70 years and Sr. Rosé Theresa celebrating 60 years.

The Mass was presided by Fr. John Landy, OCD. The communities of Sisters and Brothers, many Jewish friends of Sr. Maureen and dear friends of Sr. Rose Therese, volunteers and friends of Sion were present. We shared dinner following the Mass and had the joy of singing many songs that spoke of traveling through life and appreciating all challenges that help us to grow. We were very happy to celebrate this special time. We are blessed and thank God for their lives lived so faithfully and for the many years of service of Sr. Maureena and Sr. Rosé Theresa for the Congregation of Sion.

Entry to Sunday

On February 4th, we the Novitiate community were happy to have our Welcoming Sunday gathering at our house. We had our young Sisters who are currently here for the ConnecSion program for the next three months at Ein Karem. We wish them a blessed time as they begin their program and we will remember them in prayer as they journey through this month.
